Syracuse New Times Interviews Cheech & Chong
The Syracuse New Times interviewed Cheech & Chong who were promoting their upcoming shows (January 3rd) at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino Showroom in Verona, New York. The publication did a very thorough job researching Cheech & Chong and had some great questions.
Some highlights...
When asked about smoking pot, Tommy replied "As soon as Cheech and I got back together again I stopped smoking, so I could remember what we used to do. I carried it over to this day. I haven’t smoked. I’m going to smoke at the end of the tour. I make these little signposts for myself. I’ll finish the tour, then I’m going to light up. I don’t need to smoke on the tour because everyone smokes for me."
When asked about if there are any future projects they'd like to do, Cheech replied "We’re going to start our own TV series."

Lou Adler's Son, Cisco, Arrested After Bar Brawl
Cisco Adler, son of Cheech & Chong record and movie producer Lou Adler, was arrested Wednesday at the Hub in Fargo, North Dakota for simple assault.
After Adler's band Whitestarr completed their set, there was a disagreement over the band's bar tab. A fight broke out between the tour crew and the club's security. Cisco punched one of the security personnel.
He was released on $500 bail.
Some of you may remember Cisco from his VH1 reality show "The Rock Life."
You may have seen his naked photos on the web. He's frequently getting naked for no apparent reason. He's also known for dating OC actress Mischa Barton.

Updated: Cheech and Chong's Animated Movie To Be Produced By Indy Studio Big Vision Entertainment & Chambers Bros. Entertainment
Big Vision Entertainment, a leading independent licensee, producer and DVD label for special interest programming and Chambers Bros. Entertainment a television and animation production company, today announced an exclusive deal with music mogul Lou 
Adler, owner of Ode Records, for the animated movie rights to the classic Cheech and Chong library of recorded comedy content.
Cheech and Chong Smokin' Animated Movie
The exclusive worldwide production and distribution agreement includes all theatrical, television, home video and digital rights to create an animated movie based on the "pot culture" comics' most famous comedy bits. Eric & Branden Chambers are directing the animation. Project will be produced by Houston Curtis of Big Vision, along with Keith, Branden and Eric Chambers of Chambers Bros. Entertainment, who created the concept. In addition, Adler, Curtis and the Chambers Bros. will serve as executive producers. Project will be completely financed by Big Vision Entertainment.
"Big Vision is thrilled to be working with Lou Adler, the Chambers Brothers, and of course, Cheech and Chong," said Houston Curtis, Founder and CEO of Big Vision Entertainment. TBS is on track to set a new ad-supported cable record as it takes position as ad-supported cable’s #1 network in primetime delivery of adults 18-34, according to year-to-date numbers from Nielsen Media Research. In achieving this new record, TBS grew its delivery of the coveted young-adult demo by an astonishing 17% over 2007.
TBS’s success in 2008 has been due in large part to the network’s outstanding collection of both original and acquired sitcoms, including Tyler Perry’s HOUSE OF PAYNE, which ranks as ad-supported cable’s #1 sitcom of all time. The critically acclaimed original sitcoms MY BOYS and THE BILL ENGVALL SHOW enjoyed strong summer runs. And acquired series like The Office, My Name Is Earl and Family Guy rank as three of ad-supported cable’s most popular comedies among adults 18-49, with The Office and My Name Is Earl scoring significantly lower median ages than their telecasts on broadcast.

Review: Cheech & Chong at Vancouver's Queen Elizabeth Theatre
The Cheech & Chong: Light Up America and Canada tour came to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver last night. Straight.com has written a review of the show.

A Weekend in the Life of Cheech Marin
The Los Angeles Times asked Cheech Marin what he enjoys doing and where he enjoys eating on weekends when he's staying at his home in Malibu.
On Friday, he goes to a secret restaurant that wine aficionados would appreciate. He didn't want to reveal its name. On Saturday, he plays golf and eats at the Saticoy Golf Club in Camarillo. Saturday night, Cheech and his pianist fiance, Natasha Rubin, either go to a party or a concert. On Sundays, they may go to Olvera Street or Chinatown.

Nash Bridges Season 2 Coming to DVD

Hosted by Billy Crystal and narrated by Amy Sedaris, "Make 'Em Laugh: The Funny Business of America" is a documentary series chronicling more than a century of the funniest moments in American entertainment. "a/k/a tommy chong" on SHOWTIME! - TOMORROW
a/k/a Tommy Chong, has made it to primetime! With W. heading back to the ranch to lick his wounds, the broadcast premiere is tomorrow on Showtime Networks, November 14th, at 7:30pm.
It's been a long, strange trip getting this project a broad public viewing, but we finallly did it.
Get some takeout, memorize some of the lines, relive the terror of the Bush administration and laugh now that it's almost over. 67 days and counting.

Video: Band Angus Khan Performs Rock Fight
Angus Khan is a local supergroup of sorts from Los Angeles featuring members of The Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs, ADZ and B Movie Rats, all of whom were signed, toured the world and won local awards, etc. They're a punk-glam-metal-biker rock band ala AC/DC meets Motorhead and are all HUGE Cheech and Chong fans. They got asked to be on an upcoming compilation album that features local L.A. underground bands covering legendary LA underground bands from the ‘60s – 80s. They chose Cheech and Chong’s “Rock Fight” and just started working it out live.

As Tommy Chong mentioned when the tour began, The Weinstein Company will be releasing a DVD of the Cheech & Chong tour. It was originally stated that their Dallas, TX shows were going to be filmed for this project, but it will actually be filmed at their November 28th show at Copley Symphony Hall in San Diego, CA.

As part of the arrangement, TWC has worldwide theatrical, home video, digital and television rights. The feature-length program, which will portray a live concert experience of the "Cheech & Chong: Light Up America" tour, is expected to make a major TV premiere, followed by the DVD release. TWC International will handle foreign sales beginning at AFM this week.

Review: Cheech & Chong Tour in Niagara Falls
John W checked out the Cheech & Chong: Light Up America tour a few days ago at the Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls.
He was kind enough to send us his review.
I just saw the boys at the Fallsview Casino on Nov 6. I got to wear my sweet new Cheech and Chong t-shirt thanks to cheechandchongfans.com. As this was my second time seeing them on the reunion tour (the 1'st being Toronto Sept 6), I pretty much knew what to expect and Cheech and Chong didn't disappoint us.
Shelby Chong opened the show. Her routine hasn't changed much since the start of the tour, but she was still damn funny and got things started nicely with her sex, drugs and Cheech and Chong jokes.
Cheech wanders across the stage looking good and a little more trimmer then the last show I saw and we're off into Up In Smoke. The Led Zeppelin joint, now updated with some ky jelly is a CLASSIC!! From there we're off into Mexican in Space, Let's Make A Dope Deal, Bob and Margaret, Blind Melon, Red and Earache My eye with Alice Bowie, Ralph and Herbie, Old Man In The Park and the great sing-along of Born In East LA with a little Beaners mixed in and the finale of the Up In Smoke theme song.
Tommy Chong is a great stand-up comic and cuts a mean blues riff too!! He's changed up his routines that he does in between the skits and they are as funny as hell.
The chemistry between Cheech and Chong is as strong as ever. They look like their having a lot of fun on stage.
I've gotta say though, the venue and the audience were pretty lame. The audience looked to be split into the die hard fans and the gambling fans!! A casino is not a great place for this show as Tommy even mentioned they were not allowed to sell any merchandise and no drinks allowed...wtf?? Not a whiff of sweet bud in the air!!, thank god we got good and buzzed before the show.
Overall it was great to see the comedy legends once again.

Last week, Entertainment Weekly interviewed Cheech & Chong while they were in town for their Westbury, NY shows. The article appeared today.
It's a great interview. Tommy says he's thinking about creating a video game based on Let's Make A Dope Deal about dealers and growers. Cheech just did a voiceover for a new video game based on the film, Cars.

Night on the Town in NYC with Cheech and Bride-To-Be
Cheech, Tommy, pianist Natasha Rubin (Cheech's fiance) and Shelby Chong (Tommy's wife) are in New York City this week doing press for the Cheech & Chong: Light Up America tour. You may have heard the great interview Howard Stern did with Cheech, Tommy and Natasha on Monday. Cheech and Natasha announced they are getting married in August.
Howard and the rest of the Stern staff are huge fans. Richard Christy was wearing the Bong shirt we sent him a few months back.
They were also on Opie and Anthony. The interview went well and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. This is in contrast to the interview they did with Tommy in 2006 when he was promoting his first book, The I Chong).
Last night, Cheech and Natasha ate dinner at the Per Se restaurant in Manhattan. It has the same chef as the French Laundry in Napa Valley, and one of only 4 top rated Michelin guide restaurants in New York.
According to Natasha, "they gave us a royal treatment with a 13 course dinner (their usual is 7-9), crowned by a specially created (in honor of Cheech) Rice Dreams dessert, cinnamon-smoke-infused rice sorbet."
The Cheech & Chong tour comes to Westbury, NY this Thursday and Friday. The shows are sold out, but keep checking because there's always the chance seats will be released at the last minute.
Howard and the rest of the Stern staff are huge fans. Richard Christy was wearing the Bong shirt we sent him a few months back.
They were also on Opie and Anthony. The interview went well and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. This is in contrast to the interview they did with Tommy in 2006 when he was promoting his first book, The I Chong).

Tommy Chong Comments on Edie Adams' Passing
"When I learned of Edie Adams passing today, I felt a wave of sadness come over me, as I remembered how brilliant she was as my mother in Up In Smoke. I remembered how we visited between takes listening to her stories about her late husband Ernie Kovac who was one of the top comedians of his day.
When you look at the scene in Up In Smoke when she is arguing with my movie dad, the great Struthers Martin, you have to be amazed at the star power that was driving that scene. "When boy when are you going to get a job"? Struthers Martin wrote his entire monologue, as did Edie. Cheech and I told them the scene and how it fit into the movie, but when it came to delivering the adlib lines both Struthers and Edie shone like the stars they were.
Edie was at the end of her career when she played my mother, but you would never know it watching her perform. I am in the process of obtaining every movie and every television show I can find that featured Edie Adams because I don't want her to ever go away. She will always live in my heart.....tc"

RIP Edie Adams
Actress and singer Edie Adams died from cancer and pneumonia at a Los Angeles hospital Wednesday. She was 81.
Among other roles, she played Mrs Tempest Stoner, Man's mom, in Cheech & Chong's Up In Smoke.

DJ AM, who recently survived a fiery plane crash, returned to the stage last night with Jay Z. Cheech & Chong, the Wayan Brothers and Nicky Hilton also attended this event which took place at the Hollywood Palladium.

The Capital One Bank Theatre at Westbury has teamed up with rock CAN roll to 'beat hunger'. rCr volunteers are on site at all concerts, accepting food donations that are immediately distributed to local emergency food agencies and into the hands of men, women and children who live with hunger and in poverty.

The Wire had a chance to interview Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong via phone. Both were in Florida for their tour. Cheech was staying at the Ritz-Carlton under the assumed name Dick Gozinya.
Cheech says that he and Tommy are getting along. When Cheech was asked about marijuana, he says "I think it should be legal. I think it’s ridiculous that it’s not. I think that if they legalized marijuana tomorrow, it would do more for the economy than ten $700 billion bailouts.”
When asked about Arnold Schwarzenegger finally admitting he smoked pot with Tommy, Tommy says “I love the fact that he admits it. He fessed up to it. I tell people all the time, Arnold probably knows more about the human body than most doctors, and he would never put anything in his body that would harm himself.”

FANdemonium Casting Hardcore Latino Cheech and Chong Fans
We see that the Latino Cable Network SiTv is casting for a new show called "FANdemonium". We don't have a lot of details.
This is what their post says...
It's an exciting new show that highlights the people who give celebrities their super-star status - the fans. These are the people who camp out overnight for tickets, catch every episode of their favorite actors' show and memorize every statistic on their favorite athlete.
To give credit to these true devotees, “FANdemonium” will travel to different cities and venues - from large-scale music festivals and parades, to concerts and comedy shows, to red-carpet premieres and major sporting events to find the biggest fans there and give them a chance to win AMAZING prizes through an exciting series of competition with fellow fans.

Found: The Ice Cream Truck from Nice Dreams
For a very long time, we've wondered where the ice cream truck from Cheech & Chong's Nice Dreams vanished to. Well, it's been found.
Tim Petty of Ocala, Florida purchased the 1950 Chevrolet Good Humor Ice Cream Truck from "a company in St. Louis that specializes in vehicles for movies." The wheels and dashboard had been painted white for the film. It needed major restorations.

Cheech & Chong May Tour Outside the U.S.
Billboard Magazine interviewed Cheech Marin about the tour and the future of Cheech & Chong. He says "We're getting offers to tour other places outside of (the U.S.), so we might take a look at that. We're taking a look at all the options."
They may also do a movie. "We're talking about it. If one comes up and we can agree on what to do, how to work, then why not?"
"There was always a great love between us. We had a lot of respect and admiration for each other. I think egos got in the way. Now we both realized we (each) had half a treasure map, but we're not gonna be able to get the treasure unless we put the two halves of the map together again."

Cheech Marin to Direct Angel of Oxnard
Variety reports that Cheech Marin will direct a new dramedy film titled Angel of Oxnard. It's the first time he's directed in over 15 yrs.
Story centers on Angel Mejias (Marin), the voice of Oxnard's version of the Home Shopping Network, who finds himself in the middle of a worldwide media storm when his face appears on a tortilla.

Video: Tommy Chong at Same Hotel as Craig Robinson
Cheech & Chong were in DC this weekend for the Light Up America tour. Craig Robinson of The Office was also there. TMZ asked Craig if he knew he was staying at the same hotel as Cheech & Chong. Then, Chong was asked if he had any advice for Craig Robinson. It really looked like Tommy didn't know who Craig Robinson was.

Cheech & Chong: Light Up America Tour Kicks Off In Philly
Beaners! Beaners! Sorry, I can't get that song out of my head.
On Friday night, the Cheech & Chong: Light Up America tour kicked off at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby, PA (just outside Philadelphia). It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. It was my lifelong dream to see 
Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong perform live and I was glad to have played a part in getting them to reunite.The show begins with a brilliantly produced video showing the history of Cheech & Chong. It features a stoner rolling a joint and lighting up while old photos of Cheech & Chong are shown. It's really cool and funny and the Big Green Van theme from Up In Smoke plays in the background. Whomever created this should win an award.
Shelby Chong (Tommy's wife) was the opener. She performed for twenty plus minutes. Her set was solid. Most of the jokes were new, others you may have heard if you had seen her and Tommy's stand-up act. All the jokes were funny and she was dressed-to-kill.
Then, Cheech & Chong came out and performed some of their greatest hits, as well as new bits. They did minor rewrites to some of their bits to make them fresher. Tommy provided a nice segway between bits by telling jokes from 
his stand-up act, as well as providing some history on the bit they were about to perform.
We don't want to give away too much, but they did perform Old Man In The Park which is only available on their 2 CD Anthology.
For the encore, Cheech & Chong performed a few songs and had a sing-a-long. Shelby Chong came out to dance the salsa with Tommy during one of the songs.
After the show, I hung out with Cheech, Tommy, Shelby and their awesome tour manager, Jimmy. They met fans, friends and a radio station contest 
winner during this meet and greet. Steve Bloom, from High Times and author of the book Pot Culture, was also there.
Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are comic geniuses. They have unbelievable chemistry on stage. They didn't disappoint. They were both having a lot of fun out there. This
is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. If there are any tickets left at a venue even remotely near you, make sure you go. Also, pick up the VIP Upgrade package when it
