Cheech To Pay Tribute To Pixar VP

On April 14th, Cheech Marin and others will pay tribute to John Lasseter, Vice President of Pixar. The event, which is hosted by John Ratzenberger, is part of the annual Sonoma Film Festival, taking place in Sonoma, CA.

Chong Provides Commentary For American Stag

Tommy Chong, Adam Carolla and others provide commentary for American Stag, a 67-minute documentary on the history of stag films. The film, directed by Benjamin Meade, played at the Boston Underground Film Festival last week. Meade assembled the film using over 900 stage film reels he purchased on ebay. No word on if there will be any future screenings.

The Perfect Game Has Begun Filming

The Perfect Game, a film which had been delayed because of financial and location problems, has begun filming in Monterrey, Mexico. It stars Tom Sizemore, Cheech Marin and more.

The band, Politicks, recorded the film's theme song.

Chong To Be On George Lopez Tonight

Tonight, Tommy Chong will be guest starring on ABC-TV's George Lopez. In tonight's episode, George's dyslexia causes neighbors to accidentally go to Chong's house, instead of a sex offender that just moved in. Tommy has brownies in the oven.

More On Buchanan, The Attorney That Prosecuted Tommy Chong

In the following article, Pittsburgh's Post Gazette analyzes U.S. attorney Mary Beth Buchanan's career. It appears that the majority of what she did was geared towards taking away our freedoms. She was a strong supporter of the Patriot Act (big brother), shut down a pornography company that featured defecation and got Tommy Chong nine months in prison for shipping bongs to Pennsylvania.

Judge Dismisses Some Of The Charges Against Ed Rosenthal

The federal judge presiding over the case against "Guru of Ganja", Ed Rosenthal, dismissed the money laundering and tax evasion charges. U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer of San Francisco said the government added these charges in response to the public criticism of the trial and to make him look like a common criminal.

The marijuana cultivation and distribution charges are still pending.

Tommy Chong played a benefit show at Ed's house earlier this month to help raise money to pay his legal fees. 200 people were in attendance. The cops only came once, to tell attendees to stay inside.

According to Rogers Video of Toronto, Up In Smoke is the 10th best selling DVD this week.

It's amazing that after 28 years, Cheech and Chong's Up In Smoke is still a best seller.

Attorney That Prosecuted Tommy Chong Was Promoted

With the recent announcement that numerous U.S. attorneys were fired by the Bush administration, one would have hoped that the attorney that prosecuted Tommy Chong was one of them. Unfortunately, Mary Beth Buchanan was not. She was instead promoted to head of the Justice Department's Office on Violence Against Women.

It's ironic that she was promoted. She botched a few cases while U.S. Attorney.

Also noteworthy is that one of the U.S. Attorneys was fired because he refused to "pursue marijuana trafficking cases."

Cheech & Chong Interviewed About Basketball Jones

Today's edition of the LA Times has an article about the history of the Cheech and Chong song, Basketball Jones. The song was written in the back of Jack Nicholson's car on the way to a Laker game. When they recorded the song, the Beatles' George Harrison performed on guitar.

The article contains some new interviews with Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong.

San Antonio's Express-News Interviews Tommy Chong

Tommy and Shelby Chong will be at San Antonio's Rivercenter Comedy Club tonight through Sunday.

Express-News interviewed Tommy via phone from his home in California. They asked Tommy if the Cheech and Chong humor holds up now that he doesn't smoke anymore. His reply..."It holds up. Pot has really saved my life, you know. It kept me from becoming an alcoholic, from becoming a smoker. It did its job. It is medicine."

Cheech Attends Opening Of Tamayo Exhibit

Cheech Marin is one of the sponsors of the The Santa Barbara Museum of Art's Tamayo art exhibit. Tamayo is "one of the most important artists of the 20th century."

Cheech greeted guests who attended the opening. The article also features a photo of Cheech with his beautiful girlfriend, Natasha Rubin. The exhibit runs thru May 27th.

Now In Stock...After Hours DVD




We have begun carrying Martin Scorsese's DVD, After Hours.

A meek word processor impulsively travels to Manhattan's Soho District to date an attractive but apparently disturbed young woman and finds himself trapped there in a nightmarishly surreal vortex of improbable coincidences and farcical circumstances.

Cheech and Chong portray burglars which appear throughout the film. Although Cheech later makes a cameo in Chong's Far Out, Man, many consider this to be the last film before their break-up.

Q&A Session With a/k/a Tommy Chong Director Coming To NYC

On Thursday March 8th, a/k/a Tommy Chong director, Josh Gilbert, will be conducting a Q&A Session at the 92nd Street Y in New York City.

When comedy legend Tommy Chong (of Cheech and Chong) was arrested in 2003 and sentenced to nine months for the manufacture and sale of drug paraphernalia, filmmaker Josh Gilbert’s cameras were rolling, capturing the American justice system in action and focusing on a case that some consider an absurd episode of the war on drugs. Gilbert offers an amusing and sometimes frightening look at what he contends is the erosion of civil liberties in modern-day America.
