Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to Induct Lou Adler

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will induct Lou Adler at its April 18th induction ceremony in Los Angeles, California.  This is the first time the ceremony will be on the West coast.  It will also be the first time tickets will be available to the public.

Adler produced most of the Cheech and Chong albums, as well as directed Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke.  Although, Cheech and Tommy claim they did most of the directing.

Adler also owns the rights to all their albums.  This is unheard of nowadays, but was fairly commonplace in the 70s.

Tommy Chong is Trending All Over the Place

Tommy Chong did a press tour yesterday talking about the possibility of pot legalization.  Now, he's trending all over the search engines.

On Current TV, Tommy said the DEA will be disbanded.  He must be high because drug enforcement is a business.  Obama will never disband it.

Marijuana advocate Tommy Chong had a bizarre yet hilarious interview with Stuart Varney on Varney & Co. Chong maintained that marijuana increases fine motor skills, and that this is why professional golfers use marijuana to improve their game. He argued that "potheads" were responsible for President Obama's re-election. The best moment came when Chong speculated that Varney himself is a pot smoker.

Tommy Chong Defames Josh Gilbert in his Potcast

On Wednesday, Tommy Chong and his son posted the latest episode of their potcast.  They sit down with hashbar owner Sean Kush whose California hashbar was raided by the feds.

Sean was telling a story and Tommy (who is now sounding really old) tried to relate with a story of his own.  However, the story Tommy told is blatantly false.

Tommy says "I did fire a guy one time for [not having a video camera on when he was hired to be filming].  Josh, Josh Gilbert.  He was supposed to be filming some stuff, but he didn't do it.  I hire him and he turns the fuckin camera off."

The truth...
Josh directed the documentary A/K/A Tommy Chong.  Josh and Tommy Chong went to famous architect, Frank Gehry's, studio.  Tommy was friends with Gehry.  Frank told Josh not to film anything until they get into his office because there are copyrighted 3-D models of works in progress all around.  Josh and Tommy agreed.

Josh wasn't even working for Tommy.  Tommy wasn't paying him.

Update: Love Machine Featured on Texas Car Wars

The '64 Chevy Impala from Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke was featured on last week's episode of Texas Car Wars.  Two guys with money go around Texas trying to save old cars.

I thought the Impala was long gone, but these guys found it.  It even still has Love Machine in the back window (we have Love Machine shirts)

This episode, Dukin' Donuts, re-airs this Saturday on Discovery at 2pm EST.

Description:
The car flippers see serious dough over this week's auction cars - a 1960 Ford F-100 panel truck, a '64 Chevy Impala, and a 1993 Lexus SC 300. But more than one of these cars just might be cursed.

Thanks to Cheech and Chong super collector, Mark, pointing this out to me.  Mark loves retro Cheech and Chong items...so let me know if you want to contribute to his collection.

Update: The car was a replica.  The original car was destroyed a long time ago.

Cheech Marin, Rich Guy that Buys Hispanic Art, Wins ALMA Outstanding Career Achievement Award

Alleged wife beater, Cheech Marin, received the Outstanding Career Achievement award this past weekend at the ALMA Awards. Cheech is a regular at this award show so I guess they figured they'd reward him.  He's a regular because he likes going to the gifting tent before the show and also gets a nice gift basket for showing up.  This is also why he does all the charity golf tournaments.

What has Cheech done to deserve this award?  Nash Bridges?  Golden Girls' Golden Palace?
Nothing really, he's just a millionaire that spends his money on Hispanic art for his mansions.  He then gets Target to sponsor an art tour.  All his art becomes an IRS write-off and he gets paid by Target.  Maybe he should win this award for this smart business dealing.

The ALMA Awards, which is hosted by George Lopez and Eva Longoria, airs on NBC this Friday.  ABC used to air it, but the ratings were so bad, they dumped it.

Tommy Chong Confirms that Hemp Oil is Not Helping his Prostate Cancer

In Potcast #3, Tommy Chong has announced that treating his prostate cancer with hemp oil is not helping.

From the Weedmaster....
No duh!  Keep in mind that a few years ago Tommy told me he was going to one of those trendy California clinics to have oxygen or something injected into him.

Today's podcast is a painful, whopping 42 mins long.  Besides health tips from a crazy man, he plays what sounds like the soundtrack of Slumdog Millionaire.

He says now he's going to try ultrasound to treat it.

Chong's, 74 now, is like a mad scientist.  I think the state needs to appoint him a nurse or a guardian.

Tommy Chong Announces The Art of Cheech and Chong Traveling Art Show

During his Potcast, Tommy Chong announced that he and Cheech are going to have a traveling art show, The Art of Cheech and Chong, soon.

Cheech will have his Chicano art, Chong will have his art which will include his bong collection.

In addition, there will be videos of their movies, outtakes that no one has ever seen before, a low rider car, possibly the Big Green Van from Up in Smoke.

Note from the Weedmaster:
1. Tommy has spoken of having a bong museum before.  Years ago, he even went so far as to lease a place for the museum (which seriously pissed off his wife, Shelby).
2. I seriously doubt there are any more outtakes from their movies.  Otherwise, they would have been on the DVDs.
3. I'm friends with the owner of the Big Green Van from Up in Smoke.  Cheech and Chong haven't even contacted them.

In conclusion, I think this is another idea that Tommy has which will never happen...just like his museum, Up in Smoke 2, Best Buds movie, etc etc.  I doubt he even spoke to Cheech about it.

Reminds me of the old days when he'd start selling a Tommy Chong comedy CD that wasn't even done yet and then kept buyers waiting for one year because he couldn't decide what artwork to use on the cover.

We will keep you updated.

Tommy Chong Potcast #2 Available

Tommy Chong's podcast #2, I mean Potcast, is called This One's For All the Daves.

If you don't know how to access a podcast, the easiest way is to search for it in the iTunes store....or just click here to get there directly.

Tommy Chong's Potcast #2: This One's For All the Daves

Tommy Chong starts off by apologizing to Dave in Canada, the guy that wrote the Dave's Not Here sketch which Cheech and Tommy lifted.

Then, he apologizes to all the Daves who people have said 'Dave's not here' to over the years.

He goes on to talk about how he became part of the black culture.  Discusses his black wife, Maxine, as well as performing and getting high while being in a black band.

Tommy Chong also announced that he and Cheech are going to have a traveling art show, The Art of Cheech and Chong, soon.

And...the owner of the house didn't even realize he was living in the house where the movie was filmed.

Cheech Marin Talks About “Born in East L.A.,” 25 Years Later

NBC Latino asked Cheech Marin about Born in East LA twenty years after its release.  The film was written, directed and starred Cheech shortly after his breakup from Tommy Chong.

After Still Smokin', Cheech Marin realized that the drug movie genre was getting old.  He wanted to make a non-drug-oriented film.  This was when Born in East LA was created.  It was a low-budget film, but generated 18 mill at the box office.

“I was sitting at my kitchen table, reading the LA Times — [an American] kid was caught in an immigration raid, and he was mistakenly sent to Mexico, and at the same time, ‘Born in USA’ came on the radio.”

He says it was the success of the song, Born in East LA which made his movie being picked up by Universal Pictures a little easier.   His all-time favorite scene though was the “wass sappening boys,” where he has to teach non-Mexican immigrants English so they can fit in when they reach Los Angeles.

Cheech to be on Who Wants to be a Millionaire

NEW YORK (August 28, 2012) – “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire,” known for its unpredictable fun and life-changing cash prizes, will debut its eleventh season in syndication on Monday, September 3, 2012. The hit game show is helmed by Emmy Award-winner Meredith Vieira, who has hosted over 1,800 episodes and given away more than $70 million to “Millionaire” contestants since the show debuted in 2002. Check local listings or go tohttp://www.millionairetv.com for time and channel.

You never know what will happen on “Millionaire”! Each weekday, contestants are given the extraordinary chance to turn their lives around and win $1-million by answering 14 general knowledge trivia questions. As America’s richest game show, “Millionaire” continues to be the only game show to offer a $1-million prize to each and every contestant. With its cleverly written trivia questions that reveal fun and entertaining facts, contestants and viewers alike are able to get a playful learning experience filled with dramatic suspense that keeps everyone on the edge of their seats.

Last season “Millionaire” hosted several celebrity contestants who won over one million dollars for various charities. The show will continue its tradition of giving by kicking off its 11th season with a brand new installment of “Celebrity Week” to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. The series will air September 17-21 in conjunction with World Alzheimer’s Day on Friday, September 21. Participating celebrities include OSCAR® and Golden Globe-winning actress Mo’Nique, America’s favorite cook and best-selling author, Paula Deen, comedian and actor Cheech Marin, television icon Jackée and Tony Dovolani from “Dancing with the Stars.”

“Millionaire” also will present several single episodes featuring famous faces from the entertainment industry. “Millionaire” will celebrate ABC’s General Hospital by hosting cast members who will play the game for charity. In return, Meredith Vieira will have a cameo on “GH,” leading up to the show’s 50th anniversary on ABC in April, 2013. During “Millionaire’s” “Broadway Week,” contestants will have the chance to win tickets to see a Broadway show in addition to their “Millionaire” money. As part of the specialty week, cast members from “The Lion King” will play on “Millionaire” for charity and Meredith Vieira will make a cameo appearance at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre in “The Lion King’s” iconic opening number, “Circle of Life,” in celebration of the production’s 15th anniversary. Contestants will be able to win a Disney Cruise Vacation during “Millionaire’s Cruise In and Win Week” and, during a separate vacation giveaway week, can win a Walt Disney World® Resort vacation to experience the new Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom® Park, opening in December.

Several popular themed weeks will be brought back this season, including “Movie Week,” featuring movie trivia buffs answering movie-themed questions, and “Double Your Money Week,” where contestants can win as much as $50,000 by doubling the money attached to any single randomly selected question in the first round of the game. “Double Your Money” episodes will air throughout the season, with inaugural episodes airing October 1-5.

“Millionaire” will continue the enormously popular format changes which were implemented in 2010, highlighted by the removal of the famed “hot seat,” the addition of “Jump the Question” lifelines and randomized questions with shuffled monetary values. From the very first question, viewers now see more strategy and unpredictability as a contestant’s hardest question can be worth as little as $100, while their easiest question can be worth as much as $25,000! For “Millionaire’s” 11th season, the show has moved to a brand new studio and will use a newly-constructed set with several updates that will modernize the look of the show to match its upbeat and energetic format.

Camping with Tommy Chong

Todd Glass interviewed Tommy Chong on his podcast.

A special camping episode from….Todd’s house! Todd, Daniel, Rory, Jordan, Blake, Chris, Eric, Mikey, Lynn, Katie, and special guest Tommy Chong sat around the fire and talked!

Tommy arrives at the 30 minute mark.

It's a good interview.  Tommy once again admits they stole most of their material from the comedy troupe, The Committee.  He also says Richard Pryor is the best comedian of all time and he would go to Kareem Abdul Jabbar's house to get weed.

Strawberry's House from Up in Smoke in Foreclosure

The house where Cheech's cousin, Strawberry (Tom Skerritt), lived in their 1978 film Up in Smoke is for sale.  Actually, it's in foreclosure.

It's located in Highland Park, California and it's pretty cool.  Remember, this is where June Fairchild's character snorted Ajax off the kitchen counter.

Unfortunately, the person that owned the house took some of the movie props, including statues and wrought iron doves. However, he didn't take the cannon.

Other than that, the house doesn't seem to have been updated at all.  Same old tacky wallpaper.

The 1906, two-story house comes with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a dining room, a laundry room, a fish pond, a patio, and a back house with a bathroom. Asking price is $344,900.

Rapid Fire Marketing Sponsors Release of HD Video Series of Cheryl Shuman's interview with Tommy Chong

LOS ANGELES and CARSON CITY, Nev., Aug. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Rapid Fire Marketing (Pink Sheets: RFMK) announced today the Company has posted a six -part in depth video series of Tommy Chong interviewed by Company Spokesperson Cheryl Shuman.
Tommy Chong, one-half of the marijuana-loving "Cheech and Chong" comedy duo, is battling prostate cancer as he announced in June on CNN. He first noticed symptoms in prison about eight years ago while serving time for selling drug paraphernalia. "I've got prostate cancer, and I'm treating it with cannabis oil," Chong told CNN's Don Lemon. "Legalizing marijuana means a lot more to me than just smoking a joint. I want to be able to use cannabis to treat my cancer without being arrested." He explained to CNN that he doesn't smoke marijuana and had quit about a year ago for health reasons.
Chong discusses 'Operation Pipe Dreams' and his incarceration at Taft Prison in an exclusive interview with Cheryl Shuman, herself a cancer survivor and medical marijuana activist. Cheryl, who has known Tommy for over 20 years in both in the entertainment and activism communities, reconnected with him after seeing the CNN piece and shared with him a new medical delivery system of cannabis oil called the CANNAcig by RFMK. "I reached out to Tommy after hearing about his diagnosis so I could share with him my experiences with cannabis oil in the treatment of my own cancer. At the end of the interview, I presented him with a CANNAcig and the same cannabis oil formula I learned to make from Rick Simpson of the Phoenix Tears Foundation," said Cheryl Shuman.
You can follow Tommy Chong's progress and latest news on Twitter @TommyChong or on his new podcast on iTunes.
Links to the exclusive video series can be seen at: http://rapid-fire-marketing.com/

Update: Tommy Chong on The Joe Rogan Experience

Tommy Chong was on The Joe Rogan Experience. It was a pretty thorough, interesting three hour interview with great Cheech and Chong stories. Thank you to The Joe Rogan Experience for  mentioning our site!

To recap...I run cheechandchong.com for over ten years with Cheech and Tommy's approval. I kept the brand alive and got each of them lots of jobs ($$$). Tommy thanks me in his book. Tommy has me email Cheech to get them to reunite. They reunited. Tommy credits me in a Philly newspaper for reuniting them. Cheech and Chong's agents, managers and most importantly, Live Nation, tell them to get the site from me. I agree if they or Live Nation agree to hire me and give me tickets to shows when they're in town. They say no. Cheech and Chong file a UDRP dispute against me for the cheechandchong.com domain, they win, they put up a really terrible site with tacky merchandise and no news. Their site is rarely updated. I create cheechandchongfans.com and still have the same traffic and same sales at this new domain.

Our PayPal Account has Been Re-Enabled

The fiasco we've been dealing with has been resolved.  We've added all sorts of security measures to our PayPal account.

Someone had logged into our PayPal account from Iran so PayPal limited the account.  We think it's more likely that a hacker went through an unsecured server in Iran to cover their tracks.

Anyhow, our store is now fully functional and secure.

Thanks for your patience.

Someone from Iran Logged into Our PayPal Account

PayPal locked our merchant account for the next 24-48 hours because someone from Iran logged into our account.

As a result, you won't be able to purchase anything until this weekend.

Don't worry, no one has your account information because it's stored on PayPal's servers.

Our password is unguessable so we don't know how exactly it was obtained.

The person didn't take anything so that's good.

14-Inch Rallye Wheels / Raised White Letter Tires

Excerpt from Mopar Muscle Magazine, February, '97 -

" Frank Bennetti, movieland car czar, was recruited by Don Johnson to acquire four matching Curious Yellow Cuda convertibles. Bennetti's frantic seach for 'Cuda convertibles was on . He found the first car (VIN: BS27H0B163146) in the Los Angeles area the next day. It was a decent restoration of a 1970 'Cuda 340 automatic. The owner had converted it from a four-speed, and had kept all the parts needed to restore it back to manual shift. Bennetti's team pulled the 340 engine and replaced it with a warmed-over 360. When the four-speed was installed, a Lakewood scattershield was fitted at Don Johnson's personal request. Other modifications include the installation of a '71 front clip replete with a Shaker hood scoop. This car turned out to be Johnson's favorite of the group and was not to be used for jumps. But, in the first episode of the fall '96 season, this 'Cuda rocketed through a San Francisco intersection at low altitude and upon landing, the front end collapsed. The front end was then rebuilt with a heavy duty K member with heavy duty torsion bars, and more. This car has a rubber front bumper, whereas the other cars are painted steel. "

Bidding is at 88k so far, but the reserve hasn't been met.

Rich Hampton-ite Cheech Marin to Receive Award

Richard Cheech Marin is about to receive an award, not for twice being an allegedly very bad husband, but for spending a lot of his money on Chicano art.

On July 14th, Cheech will be receiving the Arts Patron of the Year Award at upscale art fair ArtHamptons, and he’s curating Thomas Paul Gallery’s booth for the fair.

He’ll also host a “Cheech’s Birthday Bash,” July 13, at the Polo Lounge at Nova’s Ark Project in Bridgehampton.

For those of you that don't know, the Hamptons is located just outside New York City. It's where very rich people live so they can hang out with their own.

Tommy Chong is Battling Prostate Cancer

Tommy Chong, who turned 74 last month, told CNN today he is battling prostate cancer. Chong says he first noticed symptoms when he was incarcerated eight years ago for conspiracy to distribute drug paraphernalia. He was officially diagnosed approximately one month ago. It's a slow stage cancer and he's treating it with hemp oil. He stopped smoking pot one year ago and instead takes hemp oil before bed to treat the cancer. He didn't say if he's also treating it with Western medicine. Keep in mind that this was an interview with CNN's Don Lemon about legalization.

CBS Cancels Rob!

CBS has decided to put the sitcom Rob! and the people watching it out of their misery. We are huge Rob Schneider fans, but this show was corny and unwatchable. Cheech Marin reprised his role as a stereotypical Mexican with horrible jokes. It was offensive. Additional info: ¡Rob! averaged a 3.3 rating in the demo with 11.02 million. This would have been good enough on any other network, but CBS's other shows have much higher ratings.

More Cheech and Chong Shirt Sizes in Stock

Cheech and Chong fans have been asking when we'd be getting more shirt sizes in stock. That day has come. We also have more sizes for the discontinued and hard-to-find Up in Smoke Club shirt. And remember all shirts are $15 and shipping is free within the US and Canada.

Eli Manning SNL Sketch About Cheech and Chong

Last night, Saturday Night Live did a sketch about what Cheech and Chong movies would be like with an additional character.

Rest in Peace Adam Yauch

This weekend has been a very sad one as we mourn the loss of the Beastie Boys' MCA (Adam Yauch).  Adam was a fantastic director, humanitarian, activist, musician and all around great guy.

The rap and music world in general would be a completely different place if it hadn't been for the Beastie Boys innovations.

Paul's Boutique is my favorite album.  Critics panned it at first, I think, because it was ahead of it's time.  However, every one of their albums are awesome.

On Friday, I went to the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert at Prudential in Newark, NJ.  RHCP kept mentioning MCA and playing snidbits of songs throughout the night.  After playing What'cha Want, Chad looked to heaven and said thank you Adam.

The Beastie Boys and RHCP both launched around the same time and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a couple weeks ago...the same night as the Beastie Boys.

The last thing Adam Yauch worked on was Fight for Your Right Revisited which was essentially the video for Make Some Noise off of Hot Sauce Committee Part Two (great album, pick it up).  It features lots of actors including Will Farrell and Steve Buscemi.

Adam was a big Cheech and Chong fan.  "We're the Beastie Boys, not Cheech and Chong."

Here are some clips from the Red Hot Chili Peppers show.

Cheech Marin Rents Super Expensive Hamptons Mansion

Cheech Marin will be spending this summer with the rest of the millionaires in the Hamptons. Cheech will be spending $35,000 per day renting The Sandcastle (don't tell his ex-wives).

The Sandcastle has some great amenities, like a movie theater, bowling alley, walk-in refrigerator, wine room, climbing wall, basketball court, private gym and spa and lots more.

Natasha Marin, Cheech's third wife, has family in New York so that's another reason they are renting a place on the east coast.

Emergency Action Needed Against CISPA

Humanity needs your help.  We all need to team up and protest the internet censorship act, Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA).
The act allows your internet activity to be monitored.  It also allows the government to require you have an internet id.  You will need this id to access the internet, including your email.
All privacy will be gone.

We can only pray that Obama keeps his word this time and vetoes CISPA! But the protests will continue with or without him! Anonymous and its like-minded supporters are planning coordinated protests against: AT&T corporate offices May 1 through May 5 IBM headquarters May 4 through May 7 Intel headquarters May 8 through 13 Microsoft offices May 14 through May 19 Verizon Wireless offices May 20 through May 26 Bank of America headquarters May 27 through June 2 Chase Bank headquarters June 3 through June 6 Target stores June 15 through June 20 Walmart stores June 21 through June 25 CVS stores June 26 through June 28 Mastercard, Visa, and American Express June 28 through June 30. About Cheech and Chong
Successful beyond their wildest dreams, the iconic comedy duo Cheech and Chong defined an era with their hilariously irreverent, satirical, counter-culture, no-holds-barred comedy routines. Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong's phenomenal success began on the stand-up comedy circuit which led to nine hit comedy albums and eight hit films, breaking box office records, shattering comedy album sales, garnering multiple Grammy nominations and mesmerizing fans for more than a decade.
With nine albums released from 1972 through 1985, Cheech and Chong were nominated for four Grammy Awards, winning the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album with their third album, Los Cochinos, released in 1973. Big Bambu, their second album, was the biggest selling comedy record of all time in 1972 and remained so for many years. Their stunningly successful comedy streak transitioned to film in 1978 with their first movie, "Up In Smoke," the highest grossing comedy of 1978, topping $100 million at the box office. Cheech and Chong co-wrote and starred in a total of eight feature films together, all directed by Chong.
