Comedian Cheech Marin to guest star on CW's 'Jane The Virgin'

CW’s Jane The Virgin is getting a dose of serious comedy cred: EW has learned exclusively that legendary comic Cheech Marin will guest star as abuelita Alba’s love interest.

The Mexican-American comedian—who gained notoriety as half of the successful counterculture comedy duo Cheech & Chong—is set to star in an episode of Jane The Virgin that’s slated to air when television’s favorite twentysomething virgin returns from its winter hiatus in January. The 68-year-old Nash Bridges alum will play Edward, whom Alba meets in physical therapy.

“We are so thrilled to have him join the show,” executive producer Jennie Urman tells EW.
Marin is the latest in a slew of Latin celebrities tapped to appear on the American revamp of popular Venezuelan telenovela Juana La Virgen. Colombian rock musician Juanes and third-season X Factor USA judge Paulina Rubio are scheduled to appear in upcoming episodes of the family comedy, which received a full series order last month.
