BBK Holdings Enters Agreement To Acquire MEDL Mobile

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - October 15, 2014) - BBK Holdings, LLC, today announced that it has agreed to acquire the Custom Application Development Division of MEDL Mobile Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB: MEDL), a leading developer of mobile applications for the Apple® iOS and Google Android™ platform, and the Hang w/ live social video platform (hangwith.com). The MEDL Mobile Custom Development Team will join BBK Holdings, which comprises BBK Worldwide, a leading clinical trial marketing firm for patient engagement and recruitment, TCN Technologies, and Agency320, the company's advertising, branding and media firm.

Leveraging MEDL Mobile's work with clients in the areas of mHealth and related services, the acquisition of MEDL is consistent with BBK's strategy to deliver the kinds of tools and services needed to innovate across the healthcare continuum and streamline key business processes, from clinical research to patient care.

Longtime partners and collaborators, MEDL Mobile was instrumental in the development of BBK's award-winning mobile app for patient and site engagement, My Clinical Study Buddy℠. Based in Fountain Valley, Calif., where the business unit will remain, MEDL Mobile was founded in 2009 and employs approximately 25 people. The transaction is subject to board approval and other customary closing conditions.

"Delivering patients and providers with the information they need, when they need it, is a key differentiator in today's increasingly competitive clinical landscape -- and a moral imperative when it comes to patient advocacy and engagement," said Bonnie A. Brescia, BBK founding principal. "The MEDL Mobile team brings invaluable consumer engagement expertise to BBK, and together we will ensure that our clients have the tools required for optimal patient partnerships."

"As a pioneer in this space, we have seen the impact of mobile applications across every industry, from retail to entertainment -- and bringing the power of the mobile experience to healthcare is particularly satisfying," said Dave Swartz, MEDL President and Chief Creative Officer. "Having created and monetized hundreds of successful mobile apps, including BBK's My Clinical Study Buddy, we look forward to combining our experience in all things mobile with BBK's deep expertise in healthcare and life sciences to further accelerate innovation in mHealth."
