Tommy Turns Sixty-Five
Yes, it's that time of year again. Friday, May 24th is Tommy's birthday. Sixty-five years ago the king of dope was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
By the way, Tommy Chong and Cheech Marin have just about completed the script for their new movie, Get Blunt. In the film, Cheech and Chong create a hair tonic for baldness made of hash oil. As a result, the DEA, pharmaceutical companies and the police are in hot pursuit.

Reunion Update
According to a Denver Business Journal article, Marin and Chong have put Get Blunt, the script Rae Dawn Chong wrote, on the back burner. They both decided that it was unrealistic to have Tommy portraying a drug counselor so they are both co-writing a new screenplay that involves marijuana lotion. The movie will begin where movies like Nice Dreams and Still Smokin left off.
Just like (or almost like) the old days, the legendary comedy team is back together, writing together. Smoke on!

TOMMY FRAMED?

Tommy Chong's Chong Glass factory, as well as his home were raided by federal drug agents and other officials today. It was part of a nationwide DEA plan to close companies that manufacture and sell drug paraphernalia. It's unknown if charges have been filed against Chong or Chong Glass.
"Those under indictment face a maximum three years in prison, and/or a $250,000 fine, per count, if convicted."
The bust was organized by John Ashcroft and the Bush administration. Ironically, President Bush was a major drug user in his youth.
It's unknown if he and his wife, Shelby, will still be performing their stand-up act tonight and tomorrow at Laff's in Tucson, AZ.
02.25.2003 Update: This is an update to the story we ran yesterday. To the best of our knowledge, no Chong and Shelby stand-up gigs were cancelled. In addition, Chong Glass is owned by Tommy's son, Paris Chong. Neither Tommy, nor Paris were arrested. Other headshop owners weren't so lucky.

Cheech & Chong Get Blunt
In a recent interview with E! Entertainment Television, Tommy Chong's daughter, Rae Dawn, reveals more about the C & C reunion. She explains that both she and her sister decided to write the script because they were constantly being asked when the legendary duo would reunite.
The working title is "Get Blunt," not "Still Tokin" as previously reported. Get Blunt begins with Cheech and Chong doing "community service as anti-drug preachers in a boys' home." At present, Rae Dawn is still shopping the script around to distributors. However, Cheech Marin has definitely signed on.

Cheech and Chong Together again?
We're not sure how reliable this information is, as it was posted on our message board. Supposedly, while on the nationally syndicated radio show, Lovelines, Tommy Chong announced that he and Richard Cheech Marin will be doing another C & C film.
The film, which currently has a working title of The Final Toke or The Last Toke, was written by Tommy's daughter, Rae Dawn. She gave the script to Cheech and he agreed to do it.
As we stated earlier...this information is unconfirmed at this time, but we hope it is true.
