ANOTHER ALERT

E! changed the schedule for some reason. They originally told us the air date was Feb 2nd, but their web site and TV Guide now say that a Red Foxx special will be aired that night. We'll let you know when we get another airdate from E!.

ChongStock 2000 Announced

We've received unofficial word that the Tommy Chong camp is organizing "ChongStock" 2000. It will take place May 19 - 21st in Riverside, CA. There will be Doobie Awards, celebs, bands, etc. We will provide more information as soon as they provide us with an official press release.

ALERT: E! Announces Cheech & Chong Air Date

It's finally been announced. E! Entertainment Television will premiere its Mysteries & Scandals "Cheech and Chong" on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2000 @ 8:30PM est. We're told the thirty minute episode will detail the rise and fall of Cheech and Chong, as well as the reasons why Cheech left the duo.
In addition, our sources tell us that Richard Marin and Thomas Chong were not initially willing to be interviewed. Each more or less said "I'll only do it, if he does it." We were told that one of the reasons for their lack of enthusiasm was that they were tired of explaining why they had split up.
However, many fans, including us at Cheech and Chong Dot Com, have never heard either one of them give a straight answer as to why they broke-up. The last time we saw them together was on December 13th, 1991 on the Howard Stern channal 9 show (Happy Birthday Howard!). They dressed as wise men and rolled joints. It was fairly obvious neither wanted to be there.
A certain degree of hostility seems to still exist between the duo as documented in this 1998 Tommy Chong interview in the Augusta Chronicle. The article seems to be more about Mrs. Chong, than Tommy.
As you'll see in the special, they both finally agreed to be interviewed, separately.

Clip of Cheech & Chong Special on Stern Tonight

Tonight's episode of the Howard Stern Show on E! Entertainment Television will feature a clip from the upcoming Cheech and Chong "Mysteries & Scandals" special. We will provide more details after it airs.
Update: Tonight's episode of the Howard Stern show featured guests Chuck Zito, gossip columnist and host of Mysteries and Scandals, AJ Benza, and Perfect 10 publisher, Norm Zeda. They decided to goof on AJ Benza by showing blooper footage from his show. One segment was from the upcoming special on Cheech and Chong. This is more or less what he said; "The duo of Cheech and Chong were on top-of-the-world, but then vanished into the darkness without a trace." Note: this is not an exact quote.
We still do not have an air date for this special, but will let you know as soon as we do.

Tommy Chong to Appear on Dharma & Greg

Be sure not to miss this week's episode of Dharma & Greg. In this episode, Dharma & Greg get married and resident of the local park (Tommy Chong) pushes Greg into a decision about his career. Dharma & Greg airs Tuesday 9/8c on ABC.

E! Entertainment Television Mysteries & Scandals

E! Entertainment Television just wrapped up shooting their Mysteries & Scandals on the infamous Cheech and Chong. This is E!'s weekly documentary which reveals untold stories about hollywood's legends. In fact, E! has been posting requests for insider information on our message boards during the past few months. We have received definite confirmation that both Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong were interviewed and will be presenting their sides-of-the-story regarding their break-up.

Found: Big Green Van

The infamous Big Green Van from Up in Smoke has finally been found. Melinda A. Cuslidge, an official restorer of the infamous Green Van, contacted us last week to give us the scoop. Currently, this masterpiece is in the possession of her father and his friend.
Where has it been?.....
A bit player from the 1978 movie (the child in the beginning) acquired the van after production finished. In turn, he sold it to a friend, whose son blew the engine and nearly totalled the van after hitting a pack of deer :-(
Dave Cuslidge, Melinda's father, and Jesus Torres decided to purchase the van from Dave's friend for $700 and is now in the process of restoring it. On a related note, Melinda was responsible for, among other things, painting "Sweet & Low Upholstery, 1817 Calle de los Sofas" on the side.
You, too, can see the Big Green Van in person. Shortly, it's owners will be displaying it at auto shows around California.

Nash Bridges Production To Begin On Monday

On Monday, the cast of Nash Bridges will return from summer hiatas to begin shooting the fifth season of this CBS series. Cheech and Chong Dot Com would like to wish Richard "Cheech" Marin good luck with this season, as well as a Happy belated Birthday (July 13th).

Release Date Set For Tommy's New Album

Tommy Chong is ready to release his first album since 1987's Get Out of My Room. The new album, titled Chong Etc., features new and classic characters such as Ashley Roachclip and Doper Dad. It can be ordered now at The Tommy Chong Store
