Today, a Kickstarter campaign for a feature length documentary "Boardwalk Hempire: The Rise and Fall of the Medical Kush Beach Club" Starring Tommy Chong, Rob Van Dam and Sean Kush has officially launched. The campaign seeks to raise $20,000.00 to finish the film and is offering some cool incentives for backers of the project including autographed items from the stars of the film Tommy Chong, WWE/TNA Superstar Rob Van Dam and Sean Kush.
Executive Producer Sean Kush, Producer Casey Casseday and Director Reed Lucas have completed a 2 hr rough cut of the movie and are seeking the funds to complete this historic documentary which chronicles the entire existence of the Medical Kush Beach Club on Venice Beach CA which was open for 5 years and saw over 100k patients monthly. After the MKBC was raided on April 20th of last year they decided to make this documentary to expose the world to the necessity of medical marijuana.
The Documentary raises the issue about whether patients have the right to medicate how they see fit while simultaneously highlighting the birth and death of the medical marijuana scene in southern California.
WWE/TNA Superstar Rob Van Dam and Tommy Chong have been faithful visitors to the Medical Kush Beach Club and became involved in this movie as Executive Producers to get the word out about medical marijuana.

Cheech Marin Discusses Art, Lou Adler, Recording their First Album
Off-Ramp host, John Rabe, interviewed Cheech Marin for the 89.3 KPCC podcast. The beginning of the podcast concerns Cheech's art collection. Then, Cheech discusses meeting Lou Adler, the difficulties of recording the sketches they were used to performing live and what it was like doing their first film.
There's also a separate interview with Lou Adler. Lou says they went through a couple directors before Lou decided to direct and pay for it himself. He fails to mention, however, that he used Cheech and Tommy's money to pay for it without their permission. There was a lawsuit, etc etc.
In addition, Lou doesn't mention that he signed Cheech and Chong to a really bad record deal. Lou owns all their albums. Producers wouldn't get away with that nowadays, but it was common in the 70s.

Tommy Chong Tells Access Hollywood Whitney Houston Would Still Be Alive If She ‘Stuck To Pot’
Yesterday, the television show Access Hollywood interviewed Tommy Chong at The Simpson's 500th episode party.
“It’s a sad, sad thing. In a way, though, it was like she was saying goodbye,” he told Access. “Like she was passing the torch onto Adele. It was a tough one to let go. It was like she came by and said, ‘OK, I’m out of here.’ It’s a sad, sad thing.”

Cheech Marin Guest Speaker at CSUCI CEO Series
Here is an interview with Cheech Marin at the Martin V Smith School of Business and Economics at CSU in Camarillo, CA. The interviewer is a bit chatty. She talks over everyone she is interviewing.
One of organizers of the event promotes Cheech's web site. Cheech is trying to heavily promote his personal website and twitter page because, as we predicted, Tommy Chong and his son, Paris, have taken over their Facebook, Myspace and Cheech and Chong web page. Neither of the pages are updated. Occasionally, you'll get a Facebook post, but that's it.
When Cheech and Tommy and those horrible folks at Live Nation, sent their lawyers after me, I told them I'll give them the domain name, but let me (someone independent) control it. I told them that they'll argue over the site and it'll never get updated. Their agent insisted this wouldn't be the case.
I was correct. They are arguing over the sites and the sites suck.
They used me to promote their gigs and I was responsible for getting them work and money. I was responsible for reuniting Cheech and Chong. Cheech and Tommy have admitted this in books and articles. Instead of thanking me, they filed UDRP case and won the site. They abandoned me.

CHEECH MARIN TO HOST 'ARTV', THE FIRST ANNUAL FINE ART AWARDS AT MGM GRAND
Las Vegas, Nevada -- Actor-comedian Richard "Cheech" Marin will host The First Annual Fine Art Awards (ARTV) being held in the Premier Ballroom of the MGM Grand the weekend of October 28th and 29th.
Known for comedy in his many television and film roles, but serious about art, Cheech Marin will welcome the fifty nominated fine artists from around the country at the awards ceremony. The ARTV honored artists work in a total of thirteen categories including oils, acrylics, watercolor, muralists, glass, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, drawing, new movement/media, public art installation, and group project. There will also be an award given to Artist of the Year.
Cheech Marin is one of the nation's foremost collectors of Chicano/Mexican-American art, and his private collection has grown to be one of the largest of its kind in the world. His "Chicano Visions: American Painters On The Verge" is now on a major tour of art museums nationally through 2008. A second tour titled "The Chicano Collection" featuring digital reproductions of paintings, has just begun its national tour in Los Angeles.
"We are especially pleased to have Mr. Marin as our host," said Audrey Roberts, creator and executive producer of the show. "Not only is he an enthusiast of the art world, but his presence at our awards show brings well-deserved attention to his two important art exhibits which are now touring." Audrey Roberts has long been a champion of the arts. She has been a major contributor to the Nevada Institute for Contemporary Arts, UNLV's Fine Art Gallery, and The Las Vegas Art Museum. "Now more than ever it is time for the arts to flourish," she says of her innovative new awards show, "and this will be unlike anything the public has seen before. This is, after all, ART so the audience can expect many surprises."
In addition to the awards ceremony, the First Annual Fine Art Awards' nominated artists will be creating art in their chosen medium working live outside the Premier Ballroom for the audience to enjoy as they arrive for the ARTV Awards.
"The public rarely gets to see creative artists working, up close and personal," says Ms. Roberts. "They usually only see the finished product hanging in a gallery. We want to give them the bigger 'picture' and a truly unique experience." Ms. Roberts promises there will be many unusual surprises on the red carpet as well.
A special "Lifetime Achievement Award" will be presented posthumously to Anthony Quinn, famous on screen as an Oscar-winning actor, but in private life, an important artist himself. Quinn is a favorite of Las Vegas art collectors. Mr. Quinn's "Lifetime Achievement Award" will be accepted by his widow Katherine Quinn.
For additional information regarding ARTV and the First Annual Fine Art Awards or to purchase tickets to the show please visit the web site at www.artvawards.com. This unique and exciting awards show will be taped for a future televised airing as well.
"We are trying to keep the arts alive and thriving," Ms. Roberts says, "and it is up to all of us to do it."

Robert Rodriguez and Danny Trejo are working on the sequel to Machete, 'Machete Kills.' No word on whether the previous actors such as Robert Deniro and Cheech Marin will be in the film.
Stan Sheldon Talks About Working on Up in Smoke
Stan Sheldon is currently playing bass on the Peter Frampton tour. Frampton brought back the original band that played on his hit album, Comes Alive.
However, many of you don't know that Stan played some of the music in Up in Smoke as part of a band which would later be called Ronin. He went by the name Waddy Wachtel.

New York Post Completely Disses Rob!
Ok, so anyone that's watched the new Cheech Marin/Rob Schneider sitcom, Rob!, knows it's horrible. The jokes are very stupid and simple. There are apparently a lot of stupid and simple people in this country and they're watching this piece of garbage.
All the critics, including us, feel the same way. I'd be embarrassed to be an actor on the show.
In a New York Post article today, Phil Mushnick had some funny things to say about the show.
"In just two episodes, CBS has provided conclusive proof that as long as a network keeps scraping at the bottom of that barrel, it’ll come up with something."
and
“Rob!, ostensibly, is about an Anglo-American marrying into a Mexican-American family. But it’s so much less than that."
Rob Schneider used to make the funniest edgiest comedic films and albums. What happened?!?!
