Cheech and Chong Show at Humphrey's Canceled

Cheech and Chong's August 5th show at Humphrey's in San Diego has been canceled.  Tommy says he doesn't know why.  It's either because of poor ticket sales or because Cheech has a television show or movie to work on.

Cheech and Chong Reunion Script is Finished

Tommy Chong has announced that he's finished writing the Cheech and Chong reunion script.  This is not to be confused with the script Tommy's daughters wrote, nor the script Chong wrote when he and Cheech still weren't speaking.

New Line Cinema wanted to do a Cheech and Chong film, but the canceled the project because...Tommy was busted by the Feds and served nine months...and their Director, Larry Charles, left the project to do Borat.

The film probably won't see the light of day.  Cheech and Chong don't have a film studio at this point.  Plus, Cheech is working full-time on a sitcom with Rob Schneider.  The show will debut this January on Fox-TV.

Pee-Wee Herman Talks About Working with Cheech and Chong

Pee-Wee Herman (Paul Reubens) was at Comic-Con this week talking about his new film.  The film, which hasn't actually began filming yet, is a road trip film and is being produced by Judd Apatow.

During the Q&A session, he was asked what it was like being in two Cheech and Chong films (Next Movie and Nice Dreams).  He said Nice Dreams was filmed almost entirely in a mansion.  This same mansion is now owned by Johnny Depp.  Reubens says he doesn't remember much about working with Cheech and Chong...just that they hired a lot of improv actors because they didn't have a script.

SAN BERNARDINO: California Theatre brings back comedy fest

The LOL Comedy Festival is returning to the California Theatre of the Performing Arts to tape more specials for the Showtime cable network.

It will bring six headliners to downtown San Bernardino in four evenings, Aug. 25-28.
They are sitcom star Anthony Clark ("Yes, Dear"), Jeff Dye, Jay Mohr, Tommy Chong, Rita Rudner and Willie Barcena, who participated in the 2010 LOL festival at the California Theatre. The DVD of that concert will be released this month.

The 2011 concerts are posted on the California Theatre website but were not yet on sale at www.ticketmaster.com at press time.

The website did not post show times. But according to the event description there will be free entertainment outside the theater, as there was last summer.
The theater coordinated on the street event with the city and other San Bernardino agencies as a line-free way of loading audiences into the theater for the 2010 LOL festival. There were two tapings on July 30 and three on July 31.

The turnout around the theater on July 31 was comparable to the Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous, Joseph Hansen of the California Theatre said at the time. Emil Marzullo, executive director of the San Bernardino Economic Development Agency, described the crowd control as "flawless."

The 2010 event featured nearly two dozen comics, including Tom Arnold, Caroline Rhea, Jon Lovitz and Louie Anderson. More names are yet to be announced for 2011.
The LOL Comedy Festival is only one recent addition to the California Theatre schedule.
