Exclusive: Photos of Lady Templar Chong Guitar

Comedian/actor/artist, Brett Alexander, was gracious enough to send us these exclusive photos of the Lady Templar Chong Guitar. It's a custom 12 string Gibson Epiphone acoustic/electric guitar fabricated for Patricia Hagan, a performance artist from Missiouri.

According to Brett, Patricia is "one very beautiful creative musical expressionalist. She'll be noticed with this chong axe for sure." For those of you wondering how you can get your hands on a guitar like this one or the

Chong electric guitar that Tommy's touring with right now...Brett plans on making Chong guitars and a host of other licensed Chong products available for public purchase sometime in 2006.

We'll provide more information as it becomes available.

Thanks Brett.

Stern Recounts Favorite Channel 9 Moment

Howard Stern recounted one of his favorite Channel 9 moments this morning. On Dec 13th 1991, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong did a nativity Christmas sketch. Cheech and Chong were wisemen. Dan was baby Jesus.

WOR/Channel 9 found the bit too offensive so it took a lot of persuasion to get them to air a waterdowned version.

Here's a recap of the episode:

Latinologues Opening Night

Tonight, we went to the opening night of Latinologues , the Broadway play Cheech is directing. It was much better (we didn't think it could get any better) than the preview we went to a few weeks ago. There was more improv and new jokes. We laughed our asses off. People were laughing so hard that they couldn't catch their breath. The actors kept having to take long pauses, waiting for everyone to settle down.

The aftershow party at Havana (46th, betw 6th & 7th) had numerous models and celebs which we could not identify. Check out the footage below and let us know who these people are.

We sat at a table with Latinologues writer RickNajera, Cheech, what we think was Cheech's girlfriend, Geraldo and Geraldo's wife.

Rick Najera is a super nice guy. He's the type of guy you'd go to a bar and drink beers with. I asked Cheech about his current projects, but once again did not want to discuss the termination of the C & C reunion. Cheech Marin is a humble individual, appreciative of everything in his life. All he would say was that "tommy is a unique individual". We genuinely think Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong really wanted to do the movie, but things just didn't work out. Cheech doesn't have anything bad to say about anyone.

We asked Cheech about Senor Dracula, a Spanish version of the film Dracula which he is directing. The film is still being written. Efren Ramirez, the actor that played Pedro in Napoleon Dynamite, appears in the film.

While we were there, we spoke to Cheech about a top secret project we here at Cheech and Chong Dot Com are working on. He was very interested. In mid-November, we will make a formal announcement. There will be tons of fanfare and we think all Cheech and Chong fans will love it.

Other celeb sightings...Rosie Perez. She looks great.

FBI May Change Hiring Policy

Apparently, the FBI has a policy which prevents them from hiring certain people that have previously used drugs.

AP interviewed Tommy Chong regarding this policy.

"I don't think you could find anybody who hasn't tried marijuana, and I take a lot of credit for that," said Tommy Chong, the comedian whose films with Cheech Marin provided over-the-top portrayals of marijuana culture during the 1980s. "They're going to have to change their policy."

Chong Comments On Disagreement With Cheech

During a phone interview with the Mercury News, Tommy Chong provided some additional information regarding the end of plans for a Cheech and Chong reunion.

In recent weeks, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong have been attacking each other in the media. From what we can gather, Cheech feels they're too old to reunite as hippy stoners. This is one of the reasons he backed out.
On the other hand, Chong feels that Cheech considers himself an "actor" "above the comedy." He feels that Cheech is a sellout for forgetting about his comedic past.

Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong made some of the best comedic films of all time. They're legendary and the duo could easily pick up where they left off. Age will not be an issue. They should keep working on a script until they're both happy with it.

Chong says he's tried to call Cheech, but Cheech hasn't returned his calls. This is not surprising. Chong began a smear campaign shortly before the opening of Latinologues. Chong's comments were tasteless and unprofessional.

Tommy also revealed he has completed work on his book, The I Chong, which details his stint in prison. Chong says he's spent $1 million on legal fees thus far and expects to spend another mill trying to reverse the conviction.

Capps Ashcroft Protest

Bobby Capps (well-known for his Free Tommy protests) was at William Jessup University today to protest Tommy Chong's wrongful persecution. John Ashcroft was there to kick off the university's new public policy.

Capps stood at the university entrance holding
his anti-Ashcroft sign (Adolf Ashcroft Violates Peoples Rights Abuses Law, America Needs Crude Not Crud No More Texass Candidates). He had expected to be given a hard time. On the contrary, two university heads brought out coffee and donuts. Most of the people were super-friendly.

Later on, two beautiful coeds, Eleathia and Taylor (forgive me if their names are spelled incorrectly) came over to take a photo with Bobby. They weren't aware of Ashcroft's antics and weren't familiar with Cheech and Chong, but they will be visiting this site later (email us your photo).

Capps had this to say, "As for people traveling into and out of the university, I would say there were three kinds: people who shook their head and then proceeded like they didnt see me, people who flipped (me) off...great christian,...and last but not least, the horn blowers (that gave me a) thumbs up. No one bothered me. In closing I would like to say William Jessup University had wonderful manners and I believe is a very nice place to visit and I hope more will go to school there in the future."

Latinologues Press Conference

Today, we attended the Latinologues press conference at the Helen Hayes Theatre. The place was packed with reporters.

We were only able to speak Cheech Marin briefly because he was heading back to California this afternoon. We asked him about the reunion film and the script. Contrary to previous reports, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong never finalized the movie script. They came up with the premise together, but that was it. He didn't seem comfortable discussing it. We will have a more in-depth interview with Cheech when he returns in October.

We brought Brett Alexander with us so he could show Cheech the Cheech Marin signature guitar, as well as give Cheech the bust he created. In the past, Brett has also created guitars for Tommy Chong and legendary blues musician, Buddy Miles.

In addition, we had the opportunity to speak some of the other cast members. Rick Najera said that he saw our review and was very appreciative. By the way, Shirley looked stunning.

Review: Debut of Latinologues

Tonight was the first night of previews for Rick Najera's Latinologues. The play, which takes place at New York's Helen Hayes Theatre, marks Cheech Marin's Broadway directorial debut.

The show was fanastic! The audience and myself included could not stop laughing.

The writing was impeccable, which doesn't surprise me. Rick Najera is a seasoned comedy writing veteran, having written for MAD TV and In Living Color. Rick is also a marvelous character actor. His drug dealer character gave me the munchies and also drew the most laughs

I was amazed that the first show could be flawless, but it was. Cheech Marin's excellent direction, as well as the great actors (Rick Najera, Eugenio Derbez, Rene Lavan, Shirley A. Rumierk) are to thank.

I loved it so much so we will be returning. We also expect to have an interview with Cheech Marin later this week.

If you live outside of the tri-state area, we recommend planning a vacation around this.

Chong Interview At Toronto Film Festival

During an interview at the Toronto International Film Festival, Tommy Chong spoke about AKA Tommy Chong, a documentary about Chong being arrested and sent to prison for selling bongs via the internet. Tommy says that "The United States is under martial law, it's under dictatorship."
The documentary claims that the DEA spent $12 million pursuing Tommy and only $20 million pursuing Osama.
"It's like the weed culture. You just wait, it'll change. Everything changes. Bush won't be in power forever, Ashcroft is already gone. There's going to be another cycle and it's going to go the other way."

Remembering 9-11

It's hard to believe it's been nearly four years since that tragic day. Not a day goes by that I don't think of Kristine. She was a close friend of mine that died in the towers. I miss her so much. She was truly a beautiful person.
-Weedmaster
While on the subject of 9-11, it's important to for everyone to realize what did and did not occur that day. There's a great film created by Power Hour Productions titled In Plane Sight. Some of the points-of-view are open to interpretation. However, there are items in the film that are undeniably true.
For instance, a missile hit the Pentagon, not a plane. The hole was only 16 ft in diameter before the building collapsed. There were dozens of surveillance cameras on top of the Pentagon, as well as at a gas station, that captured what happened. However, the existence of these tapes has been denied. Most shocking is that there was no plane wreckage at the Pentagon.

Cheech & Chong War Escalates

Tommy has continued his Cheech smear campaign. In yesterday's edition of the New York Post, Chong calls Cheech a "sellout" and a professional Latin.
By professional Latin, Tommy is referring to the fact that all of Cheech's projects are related to Hispanic culture. These projects include the Latinlogues play, Chicano Visions art exhibit and his directing of the Spanish version of Dracula.
This is the second such article in recent weeks. Tommy mentioned Cheech being a sellout during an interview with the Los Angeles Newspaper Group. He goes on to say that he's a sellout for playing a cop on Nash Bridges.
From what we can gather, Tommy is upset that Cheech has forgotten his comic roots.
Ironically, Tommy was a guest during a Nash Bridges episode.
We've yet to year Cheech Marin's side of the story. We hope to have some comments from him next week.

Reunion Film On Hold Indefinitely

Sorry everyone, but the Cheech and Chong reunion film is on hold indefinitely. Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong loved the original script, but the powers that be (the film studio) did not. The film studio, New Line Cinema, has since left the project. The original director, Larry Charles, left the project to work on an unrelated television project.
In a recent article, Tommy Chong hinted that tensions may be heating up again between he and Cheech Marin.
A revised script is or was being penned by Tommy, but Cheech only agreed to make a cameo. He character would be replaced by Pedro's son.
Any Cheech and Chong movie without both Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong would be an atrocity.

Tommy Discusses His Arrest & The Reunion

The Los Angeles Newspaper Group had a chance to conduct a phone interview with Tommy Chong today. During the interview, Tommy states that he has "no animosity towards anybody." He says that he understands why the Bush administration "went after me the way they did. I totally understand it. They're so crooked they needed any kind of diversion they could get."
When asked about the reunion movie, Tommy said that the first script got rejected and that he has since submitted a second script which needs additional work. Sadly, Cheech Marin appears to be shying away from the project. Cheech doesn't want to be Pedro. As a result, Tommy needed to create a Cheech, Jr. character who "carries half the movie."
There is a lot more to the interview.

Complex Asks Tommy "What if..."

If Tommy Chong had only one day left on this planet, he’d spend it settling a score with the former U.S. Attorney General. “I’d seek revenge on first and foremost John Ashcroft, because he put me in jail for selling bongs,” Chong told Complex magazine. “I’d tell him to go [bleep] himself, but I would do it on his terms and forgive him like a good Christian, which would freak him out. I’d probably hug him.”

More Film Details

While meeting with press at the HBO Comedy Festival in Aspen, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong provided more details on their reunion film. Cheech says the script is nearly finished and they want to start filming right away. Both would like the film to be released this summer if possible.
Also of interest is that New Line Cinema may not be distributing the movie after all. They would not elaborate. That leaves two questions unanswered...Who is the director? and Which film company will distribute the film?
However, one thing is undeniable. The film is going to be great. Earlier today, they appeared on AMC's Peter Bart and Peter Gruber's Sunday Morning ShootoutÓ. They are just as funny now as they were 20 years ago.

NPR Interviews Chong

Today, National Public Radio conducted the most thorough interview we've heard with Tommy Chong since his release.
Touring...Chong says he's only able to perform in Canada until his probation is over (this Spring).
Arrest...He gave more details on his arrest. He says that undercover agents went to his son's bong factory and purchased $5,000 worth of bongs. These headshop owners/agents said they wanted to purchase even more bongs and asked Chong Glass to ship the bongs to the fake headshop. It was total entrapment. These agents had been trying to get Chong glass to ship bongs to Pennsylvania for months. They flew to the factory out of desperation.
Chong received the harsh nine month sentence because Tommy told the press that the only weapons of mass destruction George Bush found were his bongs. They even mentioned what Chong said during his sentencing.
Arnold Schwarzenegger...Tommy met Arnold at a gym and smoked pot with him shortly after Arnold came to the US. Arnold is in denial about it.

Chong Discusses Prison And Return To That 70's Show

The Calgary Sun sat with Tommy to discuss prison, the Cheech and Chong reunion film and his return to That 70's Show.

Chong Marijuana-Logues National Tour

Following the hit off-Broadway run, Ideal Entertainment Group and Magic Arts & Entertainment are bringing THE MARIJUANA-LOGUES starring TOMMY CHONG to cities across the North America beginning February of 2005.
Chong, best known for his legendary contribution to American counterculture in the comedy team Cheech & Chong, will continue with THE MARIJUANA-LOGUES, a stage show written by Arj Barker, Doug Benson and Tony Camin and directed by Jim Millan.
It's an evening of side-splitting humor that has a nation buzzing. Chong lights up the live theater stage with his unique perspective on life. (Disclaimer: This production does not glorify drug use. Rather, it illustrates that cannabis culture is a thing of substance, humor and creativity.) From hazy to highbrow, THE MARIJUANA-LOGUES proves that the stories surrounding the bud are as varied as those who indulge.
